World War II technology
Throughout World War II, new technology has been developed and used throughout the war, with some, like the Atomic Bomb, that has destructive effects on people, while some, such as penicillin, saved peoples' lives. People are still using this technology in their lives, and I believe that it will still be useful for years to come.
One new technology that was invented during World War II was radar, which was an incredibly useful invention due to the fact that it can detect hidden aircraft. This helped the armed forces detect hidden attacks and use counterattacks against them. The researchers that invented radar also helped find ways to counter the radar, such as dropping tinfoil pieces during bombing raids to jam the enemies' radar. Radar was also used to detect weather patterns and helped plan D-Day, aiding helping to end the war.
In World War II, there were also main advancements in medicine as well, such as Penicillin. While Penicillin wasn't invented during the time of World War II, it was mass produced during those years, as it helped soldiers from dying of infection, greatly reducing the number of deaths from infection,, and saving lives. Other medical improvements were also made during the war, such as the improvement of blood transfusions and aviation medicine, which helps people fly safely at high altitudes. The emergence of aviation medicine led to things such as night vision, crash helmets, and even seat belts.
Along with radar and medicinal improvements, World War II also made improvements in food and nourishment as well. Scientists during World War II began to identify important vitamins and minerals, and this helped people understand what amounts were needed to keep the human body healthy. With this new knowledge, scientists were able to develop rations that were able to supply necessary vitamins and minerals to a soldier. One of these new rations was the D-ration, which was a high-calorie emergency chocolate bar that allowed soldiers to get energy when they needed it.
One last invention that was built in World War II was also the invention that caused the end of the war: the atomic bomb. During World War II, the U.S. began to the project to end the war quickly, and to projects to design the bomb were held. One project used uranium, and the other used plutonium for the bomb to increase the chances of success. The bombs were successful, and two atomic bombs, known as Little Boy and Fat Man, were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
There were many inventions that were made and improved on during World War II, and we use many of these new discoveries today. Radar is used for detecting weather for meteorologists, penicillin is used as an antibiotic to treat infections, and improvements in the food we eat makes sure that we get the vitamins and minerals that we need. Technology developed in World War II has come a long way, and I believe that thanks to the inventions and discoveries in World War II, our lives have improved greatly.
